"The Journey of Dominy the Horse to the Stars" is the first full-length 3D animated film in the history of Independent Lithuania, which brings to cinema screens the book of the same name by Vytautas V. Landsbergis, who has raised several generations of our country.
A family-friendly story about love, unity and the wisdom of life tells the story of a brave horse named Dominic, who embarks on a cosmic odyssey in search of a magical gem that can save his beloved Cornflower from the winter cold. Visiting the Moon, Mars, Venus and other planets, Dominic will make new friends on his journey and discover the power of love, friendship and courage, which are necessary to overcome any challenges.
Dominyks was voiced by actor Laurynas Jurgelis, and his beloved Rugiagėlė was voiced by famous Lithuanian singer Jessica Shy. The other characters in the film were voiced by actors Ramūnas Cicėnas, Giedrius Arbačiauskas, Ineta Stasiulytė, Dalius Skamarakas, Šarūnas Gedvilas, Simonas Dovydauskas, Rasa Kulytė-Polini, Adelina Skalandytė, and Eglė Grigaliūnaitė.
VV Landsbergis' series of books about the horse Dominykas has become a cult classic over the past twenty years: "The Love of the Horse Dominykas" and "The Magical Jewel of the Horse Dominykas" have won the best book of the year awards, are included in school curricula, and their characters have been revived on theater stages. The books have been translated into Swedish, Italian, Ukrainian, Georgian, and Mongolian, nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Prize, and awarded as the most beautiful at the Beijing Book Fair.
The film script was written by Giedrius Tamoševičius together with the author of the book, and the children's favorite heroes of the book and their new friends are reborn in the film story thanks to the artist Gediminas Pranckevičius. The film is presented by the production team that created the Lithuanian films "Tadas Blinda. Pradžia", "Tarp pilkų debesų" and the VR experience "Žaisti gvieminė".
