Flute, piano and accordion – three instruments, three different timbres and three young musicians, ready to reveal the most unexpected possibilities of their harmony. At the BIRŠTONAS SUMMER MUSIC festival concert “Colors of Sounds”, the line-up of performers will constantly change: solo episodes will be replaced by duets, and the voices of different instruments will merge in a common musical conversation.
Polina Chistova and Rugilė Melytė play in the flute and piano duo "Cantabile", which was formed at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre. For the young performers, it has become a creative space in which they search for a unique sound, and the piano is not a companion to the flute, but an equal partner.
The performers were invited to Birštonas after a concert in Vilnius, where their program impressed with a masterful, sensitive and colorful performance. The lightness, flexibility and variety of timbres of Polina Chistova's flute naturally harmonize with Rugilė Melytė's careful musicianship, sensitively conveying the mood and phrasing direction of the pieces.
Accordionist Edgaras Dičpinigaitis will add new colors to the concert. He graduated from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he studied in the class of Professor Raimondas Sviackevičius, and deepened his knowledge at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with the famous accordionist and pedagogue Mika Väyrynen. The winner of international competitions works at the Trakai Art School, performs as a soloist and member of various ensembles, and participates in classical, contemporary and improvisational music projects.
Polina Chistova and Edgaras Dičpinigaitis have already performed together, so at the Birštonas concert we will also hear an unusual flute and accordion duet. The clear, light timbre of the flute will merge with the rich, breathing sound of the accordion.
The program will feature an intriguing blend of different eras and styles. The program will feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Domenico Scarlatti, Edvard Grieg, Franz Doppler, Philippe Gaubert, George Enescu, Juozas Pakalnis and other composers. This music will allow young performers to reveal not only their technical mastery, but also their imagination, timbre sensitivity, ensemble hearing and the ability to create ever-changing concert dramaturgy.
"Colors of Sound" is an introduction to young musicians whose programs combine academic tradition with freedom of performance, while works from different eras and unexpected combinations of instruments promise a colorful festival evening.
