Lithuanian linguist, one of the most prominent Baltic scholars of the 20th century, habilitated Doctor of Humanities. Since 1990, the Jonas Kazlauskas Prize, established by the Birštonas Municipality, has been awarded to Lithuanian and Baltic scholars.
