"CREATIVE KANKLĖS" - the creative kankli camp invites you to meet for the 8th time.
On the occasion of the Year of the Kankli, we are offering participants an extremely rich and informative program. This year, we will focus on the songs of the Suvalkija region, explore the history of the kankli player Pranas Puskunigis and the Skriaudžiai Kankli Ensemble, but we are also creating an avant-garde kankli orchestra!
The camp will be held in a homestead by a stream. There is a pond for swimming in the territory. We will live in a shared house or in our own tents. Vegetarian meals are provided three times a day.
This year we will be singing in four separate groups:
seedlings - teacher Zita Baniulaitytė
greens - teacher Agota Zdanavičiūtė
stems - teacher Toma Grašytė-Jegelevićienė
flower petals - teacher Žemyna Trinkūnaitė
We will also have the opportunity to learn the specifics of five-string kankles. It is recommended to have your own five-string kankles. The training will be led by ethnomusicologist Aušra Trapulionytė-Butkauskienė. You could even form a separate five-string group!
We will also learn Latvian kanklīva with Anda Ābele and Malvīne Mantiniece, and Swiss songs will be taught by Guillaume Diamrek.
Ethnomusicologist and music educator Eirim Velička will be a guest at the camp. He will lead a class called "Kankliavimas for Children", which is intended for both children and adults.
We will also welcome musician Jonas Chockevičius to visit and enjoy his meditation workshop "Songs for the Great".
We will have lectures by ethnomusicologist Dalia Venckienė, ethnomusicologist Laura Lukenskienė, and ethnologist Vytautas Tumėnas.
Musician and composer Toma Čepaitė will teach us advanced kanklī techniques. She will also conduct the avant-garde kanklī orchestra for the final concert.
The final concert will take place on August 15 in Skriaudžiai.

The cost of the camp is 380 EUR if you sleep in a cabin with everyone and 340 EUR if you sleep in your own tent.
