about

Location: Cinema Hall (Building A Ia.)
Paulius and Indrė arrive in Karmėlava, where exactly four years ago Paulius' brother, Indrė's boyfriend Matas, was murdered. At first glance, it seems that they have no specific goal. However, the locals soon realize who these newcomers are. Paulius tries to find out the circumstances of the incident, Indrė tries to stop him from taking rash actions, but she herself begins to doubt the meaning of the trip. Ultimately, the two will have to answer for themselves why they came here and what this trip has changed. "Laurynas Bareiša speaks a cinematic language that inspires - every frame of the film is charming. At the center of the precise and extremely accurate work is a heartbreaking story, told sincerely and sensitively. "Pilgrims" captivates with maturity and creative aspirations." (Marija Fridinovaitė). World premiere: Venice Film Festival, "Horizons" program, 2021. Awards: Best Film, Venice Film Festival, "Horizons" program, 2021; Best Screenplay, Thessaloniki Film Festival, 2021
