“The Jump” is a story about the courage of a Lithuanian that captivated the world. In 1970, Simas Kudirka jumped from a Soviet ship to a US Coast Guard boat and asked for political asylum. Returned and imprisoned, Simas received huge international support, and thousands of demonstrations were organized for his release. The Lithuanian from Griškabūdis became an international symbol of the violation of human rights, and his fate was decided by two US presidents – Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. These events caused enormous political turmoil in the US and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Fifty years later, Simas Kudirka, accompanied by the famous director Giedrė Žickytė, returned to the American ship “Vigilant”. This time – to relive the jump that changed his fate. Thus was born the film "Jump" by Lithuanian director Giedrė Žickytė, whose plot is not inferior to the best Hollywood thrillers, and which has collected the most laurels in the world of documentary cinema in recent years. The hero's fiery charisma, impressive archival materials, a story full of surprises, told through the lips of Sims himself.
