"Cabaret among the Mills" is going on tour in Lithuania: Vytautas Kernagis' songs are reborn in a new musical show with Lina Rastokaite and Jokūbas Bareikis.
At the end of this year, a new musical project "Cabaret among the Mills" will reach Lithuanian cities, combining music, theater, humor, and the legendary work of Vytautas Kernagis. Actors and singers Lina Rastokaitė and Jokūbas Bareikis, together with a group of professional musicians, invite the audience to a concert-performance lasting more than an hour and a half, in which well-known songs will sound new.
After a successful premiere at the Palanga Concert Hall, the agency "Pepper Live", which presents the musical show, announces a large holiday tour of Lithuania. From the beginning of December to the end of January, "Cabaret Among the Mills" will visit fifteen cities across the country, inviting the audience to remember the legacy of one of the most prominent creators of Lithuanian sung poetry.
The program is based on the legendary songs of the cabaret "Tarp girnų" (Between the Mills), which have already become part of the history of Lithuanian music. The audience will hear such works as "Our Days as Festivals", "Colorado Beetles", "Kansaras No. 2", "Lower Castle Festivals", "The Plumber from Ukmergė", "Lietuvaitė", "Armonika", "Koja przyjaų gazą", "Šimtas pavasarių", "Kaip gražu miške" and many others. The concert will also feature the unreleased song "Paskutinė Pompėjos diena" (The Last Day of Pompeii) by Vytautas Kernagis.
The creators emphasize that this is not just a traditional concert. The scenography, costumes and lighting solutions created especially for this project create a unique cabaret atmosphere, where retro aesthetics and modern stage storytelling intertwine. There is no shortage of humor, improvisation, conversations with the audience and unexpected theatrical moments, allowing the audience to become not observers, but participants in the evening.
Lina Rastokaitė and Jokūbas Bareikis create a lively dialogue with the audience on stage, while a group of professional musicians add new colors to well-known melodies. Music, words and theatrical form merge here into a seamless narrative, in which nostalgic memories are combined with a modern perspective.
"Cabaret Among the Mills" promises to be one of the most prominent musical events of the holiday season. It is an evening that will feature not only legendary songs, but also a lively sense of community, humor, and bright emotions that will accompany the audience long after the concert.
The tour will begin on December 3 in Alytus and will visit Ukmergė, Mažeikiai, Jonava, Tauragė, Palanga, Panevėžys, Marijampolė, Telšiai, Klaipėda, Šilutė, Kaunas, Vilnius, Šiauliai, and Birštonas.
