about
We kindly invite you on July 24 (Thursday) at 7:00 p.m. at the fountain of the sanatorium "Versmė" (in case of rain - in the "Versmė" library) to the presentation of the book "Nature Therapy. How Trees, Water and Birds Help Us Heal" by Giedrė Žalytė, a psychologist-psychotherapist, certified nature therapy guide, and a nature therapy session. This is an event of the project "Sustainability Practice: Ecosophy and Cultural Dialogue", which aims to expand the cultural, general, identity (positive thinking, sustainability, etc.) competencies of local communities.
G. Žalytė's book "Nature Therapy", published in 2024, which originated from the author's blog "Saulės miškas", attracted a lot of attention from readers. G. Žalytė discovered nature and forest therapy several years ago, and, as the psychologist says, "it helped me understand very important things about myself, and thus further strengthened my desire to introduce nature therapy to other people. I really like the fact that in nature therapy, the therapist is nature, and the guide only opens the door and helps a person meet and establish a connection." In her sessions, the therapist tries to create an open, supportive, accepting, and encouraging atmosphere.
G. Žalytė graduated from the University of Vilnius with a degree in Norwegian Philology, then psychology, and completed her master's degree in psychology in Scotland. She studied cognitive and behavioral therapy, which she used as her main tool when consulting clients. She studied schema therapy and discovered Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. "This therapeutic paradigm says that a whole big family lives inside us, that is, our psyche is not homogeneous, and that is why we can experience internal conflicts, want one thing and act the opposite, want and fear something at the same time, etc. Internal family systems therapy aims to make our self the leader of our inner world, which would gradually unite the entire inner family and we could live as an increasingly integral self," says G. Žalytė.
Nature can be a great therapist if we are able to look into it, empathize with it, and see ourselves as if in a mirror. “Nature itself is always real, there is no pretense in it,” states the nature therapist, who this year published her second book, “Paradoxes of Attachment,” which talks about relationships nurtured since childhood, traumatic experiences, and their consequences, which nature could change and mitigate.
We invite you to a conversation with G. Žalyta about nature therapy in the wonderful surroundings of the sanatorium "Versmė", where a fountain is constantly gushing energetically, as if symbolizing that we also have an internal fountain of energy, we just need to notice it and let it flow.
