Teofilijus Matulionis' connection with Birštonas is a very important episode in his life and the history of the Lithuanian Catholic Church. In 1956, Teofilijus Matulionis settled in Birštonas. Here, Teofilijus Matulionis took care of the development of the diocese and left a bright mark on the history of Birštonas. His memory has survived in Birštonas. The former rectory, where Teofilijus Matulionis lived in 1956–1958, houses the Birštonas Sacral Museum. There you can get acquainted with the facts of his life.
