On August 20 (Thursday) at 6 p.m. at the Birštonas Kurhaus (B. Sruogos g. 2), lovers of poetry and cozy gatherings are invited to a special event - an evening of the work of Angelija Kubilienė, a doctor, poet, author of seven books, and a resident of Birštonas.
A. Kubilienė is a member of the Lithuanian Independent Writers' Union, Kaunas Creative Club "Kūrejų menė" and "Menų sodas", participates in the activities of Birštonas and Prienai Creative Club "Gabija", is also a co-author of several thematic almanacs, and is the laureate of the 2025 Lithuanian Medical Poetry Spring.
Back in 2022, the first two books of the author's poetry were presented at the Birštonas Public Library – "Angelijas ūrstīs" and "Ąžuolo pavėsy". This time, the poetess returns with even more books. During the upcoming evening, readers can expect to get acquainted with five new books by Angelija: "Žodžių pievelė", "Saulėlydžio spalvos", "Visatos delne", "Savės poznamimo keliu" and "Šlamėsiu diemedį žaliu".
A. Kubilienė's poetry reveals a sensitive look at life, rethinking painful and joyful experiences. A special place in her work is occupied by women - as the source of life in the world. The author is close to writing about strong, fighting women, and feelings in her verses flow through the symbolism of flowers, mythological motifs, the sound of songs and current social topics.
Angelija has written about two and a half hundred poems. Her work includes a variety of works in various forms: about a hundred sonnets, acrostics, triplets and classic Japanese haiku. “For me, the variety of genres in writing is a very fascinating activity. For example, sonnets attracted me with their concreteness. There are only 14 strictly canonized lines, but they can say so much, leaving a specific or hidden message. I still consider myself a novice in writing, I am still learning. I am a doctor, and doctors learn all their lives,” Angelija says with a smile about her work.
Special guests will also help create a warm and inspiring evening. The event will be attended by the author of the books, Angelija Kubilienė, actress Virginija Kochanskytė, and the musical program will be presented by Inesa Sėmėnaitė Rutkauskienė.
