The meeting of two intellectual performers on stage will open up a romantic and sensitive world of music. Violinist Markéta Fraňková and pianist Julija Sadaunykaitė will perform the first sonatas of Edvard Grieg and Johannes Brahms - works that combine Nordic sound, youthful energy, and mature romantic expression.
About the artist
Markéta Fraňková (*1985, Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic) is a Czech violinist who is actively performing on the international music scene. She studied at the Pilsen Conservatory with Prof. Roman Fedčuk, at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan with Prof. Christian Anzinger, and at the Vytautas Magnus University Academy of Music in Kaunas with Prof. Raimondas Butvilas. She is currently pursuing her doctoral studies at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava.
She honed her skills in international master classes with renowned performers and teachers, including Roberto Cani, Igor Tkachouk, Wolfgang Manz, and Alejandro Drago.
As a soloist, she has performed with various European orchestras and conductors, appearing in prestigious concert halls in Prague, Pilsen, Chisinau, Florence, as well as in Germany, Mexico and Japan. She collaborates with symphony and chamber orchestras in the Czech Republic, Moldova and Ukraine.
M. Fraňková is a laureate of the Kocian Violin Competition. As a chamber musician, she has performed with the European Prague Quartett, toured in Japan, and collaborated with the Baroque Consorcium Prague and Concertino ensembles. Since 2012, she has been a regular participant in the Olympus Musicus festival in Prague and has been actively performing in Europe with the Franck Duo and Trio Bohemiae.
Her concert activities include performances in many European countries, Japan and Mexico. In 2015 she recorded a solo CD with the Moldovan Philharmonic Orchestra in Chisinau. Her concerts and artistic projects have been broadcast on television and radio channels in various countries.
Julija Sadaunykaitė is a Lithuanian pianist, laureate of the Grand Prix at the Valletta International Piano Competition in Malta. Since 2022, she has been studying at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, where she continues her third-cycle (solo) studies in the class of Professor Marianna Shirinyan.
The pianist performs as a soloist and member of chamber ensembles in Lithuania, Poland, Austria, France, Italy, Switzerland, Malta, Denmark, the United States, the United Kingdom and China. She is a participant in various international music festivals, including Yamaha Piano Week in China, FairPlay in Sweden, Krakow Music Summer in Poland, Olympus Musicus in the Czech Republic, Pažaislis and Kristupos festivals in Lithuania.
Julija has honed her professional skills in master classes with Stephen Kovacevich, Lilya Zilberstein, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Julian Martin, Jerome Lowenthal, Martin Hughes, and Kyoko Hashimoto, and has collaborated in the field of chamber music with Roger Vignoles, Yura Lee, and Avedis Kouyoumdjian.
She has performed with renowned performers, including cellists Hee-Young Lim and Mark Drobinsky, and violinists Dmytro Udovychenko, Natalia Gordeyeva, and Boris Livschitz. In the 2024–2025 season, the pianist appeared at the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen, Laudon Palace and Bösendorfer Hall in Vienna, the B. Smetana Hall in Prague, and performed with the Presidential Orchestra of Ukraine at the National Philharmonic in Kyiv, and the Lviv Philharmonic.
Julija is also invited to serve on the jury of international competitions, including Dynasty in Ukraine and Premio Scarlatti in Lithuania. She is a member of the concert agency BAMA and a piano teacher at the Vytautas Magnus University Academy of Music.
