We invite you to an evening of creativity with writer Ligita Valonytė and actress Virginija Kochanskytė.
During the meeting, the presentation of journalist and writer Ligita Valonytė's books "The Old Telephone Book", "Modest People" and "Soul Conjurer" will take place.
The event will also feature the evening's guest, well-known to fans of the author's work – actress Virginija Kochanskytė.
The author herself says about the new works and the mood of the upcoming meeting:
"A writer is nourished by experiences and people. Nothing else nourishes a writer as greedily as life itself with all its colors and shades. My books were born from life experience, intuition and sensitivity. After crossing the threshold of fifty, the writer's vein began to pulse on its own, which until then had only flowed calmly like an underground spring. I have felt the ease of wielding a pen since the days of Panevėžys J. Balčikonis Gymnasium, and I mastered it over the course of 29 years working as a reporter for the newspaper "Lietuvos rytas".
"The Old Phone Book" (2025) and "Modest People" (2026) are two parts of unforgettable encounters. Both books seem to summarize my journalistic path, which gave me conversations with people whom I would hardly have met under other circumstances. Inspiring personalities enriched my inner world, became role models. I learned something from each one.
It is no coincidence that the guest of the creative evening will be actress Virginija Kochanskytė – one of the 25 faces of the "Old Telephone Book". I noticed her as a teenager while watching the play "Pelėkautai" on television, in which the actress created the main role of Miss Casewell (1986).
Little did I know then that my profession would bring me together with the charming and mysterious Virginia. When we met, a bond of hearts began to form that has lasted for almost two decades...
During the evening, I will also present the book of essays "Soul Conjurer", published last fall, the writing of which helped me overcome spiritual upheavals and difficulties.
What pulled me out of the dramas of life and led me to the light was precisely the fact that I learned to conjure my soul and heal it, just as a sorceress heals a rose with magical texts (conjurations), protects against evil spirits, or helps me find peace."
