Perhaps the world's most famous naturalist, Sir David Attenborough, will celebrate his 100th birthday on May 8th.
His captivating documentaries about the beauty of our planet have inspired generations of nature lovers. Through his curiosity and engaging stories, Attenborough inspires a desire to learn about and protect the world we live in. Despite witnessing the reckless destruction of natural habitats by human activity throughout his long life, he remains full of light and unfading joy, able to see the wonder in every moving or growing creature.

The most beautiful, impressive and ornate birds in the world live in New Guinea. For a long time, the birds of paradise and the tentacles were almost unknown to man - partly because of their timidity, partly because they live in remote areas. The 1996 film is the first comprehensive portrait of this extraordinary bird family. Sir David Attenborough invites the viewer to look from his hiding place: the extravagant plumage of the birds of paradise, complex courtship rituals and indescribable diversity are visible in the treetops and swamps.
The film is presented by Marius Karlonas, an ornithologist, nature guide, author of books about birds, and founder of the Paramėlis Nature Restoration Foundation and "Ornitostogai".
